AGRICULTURAL LABELING:
LABELING, SERIALIZATION & AGGREGATION IN AGRICULTURE CHEMISTRY
The legal requirements and applicable laws of global legislators oblige manufacturers of chemicals and agrochemicals to label their products.

In agriculture, tested and legally approved pesticides are deliberately used as an essential component. Without the use of pesticides, crop failures due to pests could rise to over 80%. Pests, weeds and diseases are regulated by pesticides. Counterfeit and illegal pesticides pose real risks to the health of farmers, end users, the environment and the economy.
The trade in counterfeit products is increasing worldwide. To counteract this, the European Crop Protection (ECPA) has issued CRISTAL guidelines which chemical and agrochemical manufacturers can follow on a voluntary basis.
Serialized data matrix coding according to international standards (e.g. GHS, GS1) on packaging and units should reliably cover the traceability of the product, the batch and the sales unit across all logistics levels. A consequent tracking and tracing ( Track and Trace ) leads to more transparency in the supply chain and can thus protect consumers and the environment from counterfeit products and illegal pesticides.
Manufacturers must integrate track and trace functionalities into their supply chain in order to be able to guarantee seamless tracing.

SECURE IDENTIFICATION IN AGRICULTURAL CHEMISTRY
Many chemical products such as herbicides, insecticides, molluscicides, dressings or fungicides pose environmental or human health hazards . Especially if they are flammable, toxic, explosive, corrosive, irritant, carcinogenic, hazardous to the environment or sensitizing. Therefore, these must be marked accordingly. To protect consumers and users, special labeling regulations are required.

HIGH REQUIREMENTS IN AGROCHEMICAL IDENTIFICATION
labeling
Legal regulations for the labeling of chemical products increase the demands on the supply chain in the agrochemical industry. Illegible or detached labels can lead to confusion and therefore pose a high risk for people and the environment.

A labeling system that is integrated into an existing production line in the chemical industry usually runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A failure would lead to a complete production stop. The labeling process of the product and packaging surfaces is complicated by environmental conditions such as dust and high humidity.
The focus of the labeling process is on labeling accuracy and speed . In order not to negatively affect the efficiency of the production line, uninterrupted labeling must be guaranteed.
The packaging formats for agrochemical products are very diverse and sometimes also irregular.
track and trace
The world's 4th largest producer and trader of illegal pesticides, illegal and counterfeit pesticides account for almost 14% of the EU pesticide market . Over 670 tons of counterfeit and illegal pesticides were confiscated by EUROPOL.
